I am a minimalist painter. With watercolor paintings I attempt to capture the impression of a landscape scene with the least amount of detail leaving the interpretation to the viewer.
The landscape is filled with wonder in the subtle colors and shapes of the vegetation. From the spiritual beauty of a sunset over a distant mountain, to a summer thunderhead looming above the horizon, all is magical. Nature and the landscape bring together a world of opposites; it is sublime, beautiful, colorful, real, honest, spiritual, gentle and silent. At the same time, it is rugged, destructive, dark, forceful and mysterious. Many of these characteristics are also found in life, in ourselves, and in each other. There is endless inspiration to be found in the ever-changing landscape that invites me paint what I see and what I feel.
